Dear Imperator
Press Release from Sri Lanka Watch
October 24, 2009
Its editor is known to solicit thousands with sob stories about his plight
Did the LTTE buy him as a media prostitute?.
Apropos the feature 'Major General Jagath Dias butchered Prabhakaran' appearing in the Sri Lanka Guardian of today 24th Oct. 2009, we the editors of Sri Lanka Watch are aware that this story is totally baseless.
Mr Nilantha Illangamuwa himself sent us reports, one of which he said was from Major General Jagath Dias himself May 18, 2009, the day Prabhakaran was killed and at that time this officer was far, far away from the place where Prabhakaran was shot dead as he fled for his life.
We have an email record of Mr Nilantha Illangamuwa disptach to us on which we based our report.
We have been for sometime quite disturbed about Mr Nilantha Illangamuwa from reports we have received from him and detected an element of fraud and even soliciting funds from some of the writers.
We had warned him about this severely. We came to know with his various sob stories he had collected thousands of rupees about having to save his house from bank seizure, his PC robbed and various other stories. He even damned his own father and brother to collect funds.
In appropriate language he is a media prostitue and was seeking refuge in Norway. It was when we heard about this intention, we noticed he was indulging in anti-Sri Lankan writing.
We have very good reasons to believe that the feature on Major General Jagath Dias was given to him to be published and from what we know of this man, literally thousands of rupees, if not dollars or kroners would have passed hands. He cannot write proper English.
Despite his begging for us to stay with him on the several occasions we threatened to leave him - and we have many emails from him to the effect - we threw the Sri Lanka Guardian out and launched Sri Lanka Watch.
Those media who may show some interest in this feature, please be assured that we know for certain that whatever contained in it is totally false.
