In many developed countries, pavements & other paths are built such that the blind people cud easily manipulate their way..
Our country has a long long way to go..but I guess we cud implement such things without a hassel! |

Late Dr Hudson Silva founded the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society. Those who wish to donate their eyes after their demise can register themselves in this Society. This is a very great act to make a blind person to see even after our death. The Retina of the eyes are removed after the volunteers' death and sent to other countries also for the visually handicapped people.

When i noticed the Fort Railway Station in the background, thought it's another protest.
FRS has become a famous assembly point.
Anyway these 02 men (pictured) are there for a good cause. |

In SL the pavements are not even safe for ordinary people.
When you drive along Negombo-Colombo at 50KM/h suddenly you will notice a yellow road crossing. No warning signs any where on the roads. People cross the roads at their won risk. |

Thiwanka,
It is sorry to tell you that Dr.Hudson Silva was not a honest man.
He collected donated eyes from Sri Lankans and given to many countries as gifts but in turn he received millions of dollars worth of gifts where used for his personal use but rightfully belongs to the poor Sri Lankans.
I am telling you this with very confidence as I used to see and talk to him many days at DeMels over a cup-pa!

| I've seen quite a few blind people with guide dogs. The hounds make life much much easier for them. Can't say I've seen those faithful dogs in SL much... |

| Seenimalli, Thank you for your comments. I really do not know Dr Hudson Silva's integrity or characteristics. However, if the donated eyes by the deceased volunteers of Sri Lanka had given vision to some other visually handicapped persons anywhere in the world that would have been good enough. |
