Gen.Sarath Fonseka`s latest appointment an insult to the entire Forces: JVP

Appointing General Sarath Fonseka as the secretary to the Ministry of Sports and Recreation is an insult to the Forces and a disrespect to the former Army Commander, JVP MP Sunil Handunnetti told in Parliament on Thursday.

He said that giving an Army Commander who led the final battle against terrorism a post as a ministry secretary is definitely a measure to insult him.

We know the level of a Minister and a Ministry Secretary. It is a disgrace if Gen. Sarath Fonseka to say `Sir` to Vinayaagamoorthy Muralitharan(Karuna Amman) who is now a Minister`, he said.

He said that the government should keep in mind that it is the Forces led by Gen. Fonseka who brought an end to terrorism.

I remember Former SLA Commander saying that he would focus on helping the disabled SLDFs, their families and other related activities. In short veteran affairs.

I think, SF can define his own job description and concentrate on veteran affairs until he is in this position. Because, there are lot of things to do. He even can establish an agency and streamline and restructure everything. That also can go under the Defence ministry.

The present situation is unfortunate and play into the hands of evil forces.

LOt of soldiers/sailors/STF who are still in active duty may need help because they were exposed to bad experiences during the war. they need psychological/psychiatric help.

there are many disabled SLDFs who are not provided properly. There are many families whose husbands and providers died in the War. They definitely need help.

I heard certain cases where wives of these dead soldiers have fallen into very sad situations.

So, there is lot of organization and providing to be done.
