| | Let us remember one of Mother Lanka`s greatest sons Tuesday, 6 October 2009 - 6:17 PM SL Time | | | Dear friends, today is the first death anniversary of Major-General Janaka Perera. As you all know, his magnificent military career is one of the finest in our nation`s history. Let us take a moment to remember a great son of the soil.
Dear Janaka, you protected the south from the red devils with all your heart, safeguarded the north from the striped demons with the strength of the lion, showed the enemy our true power at Weli Oya! We would not have triumphed without your might. Forgive us for not caring for you in life as you cared for our nation. May you be reborn among us when your time in heaven is done. |

Sri Lanka lost lot of good people.
Again, Because of the war, Sri Lanka could identify lot of good people. Other wise, they would have existed and no one knows. Edited By - AnuD - 6 Oct 2009 11:29:30 GMT |

Anud,
Are you a friend of him
No, I was not lucky enough to know him. It's sad to see that not even the govt defence websites not acknowledging him today. Stupid politics getting in the way of honouring one of our greatest warriors. If it wasn't for him, we would have had to start Eelam War 4 with Jaffna also under LTTE control.

Indeed. We have come through this war with our heads held high, knowing that we have men among us who can move mountains. Edited By - Imperator - 6 Oct 2009 11:44:01 GMT |

Chennai,
Chandrika should be cursed for what he did to him, and MR should also be blamed. But can you tell me how many LTTE carcasses he left rotting under the Jaffna sun for days? The fact that your eligal killed him long after he left the military proved how much he had affected them militarily and psychologically.

Enterring politics was his biggest mistake,,, it was not the right time for that simply,,,
I still beleive that there is a third party involved in his assassination ,,,, it can be a political murder too...
he should have waited for another 4-5yrz to enter into politics..... |

Ramz,
He entered politics because of the way Chandrika treated him in the army. That's probably why he joined the UNP. MR should be blamed for cutting his security, but I highly doubt the govt had a hand in his murder. If the govt wanted him dead, they could have done it with far less collateral damage. I think they recently arrested a few terrorists in connection to his murder. |

LTTE were only attempting to lift their sagging morale by killing him.
Even that could not lift their spirit.
probably, the ltte went for him to give Ranil something to crow about as he was bankrupt. |
