Erythrea or Eritrea if you like has no history as Eritrea. It was a province of Ethiopia. The name Eritrea is greek and people living there had no idea about their supposed nation.Italian colonialism created a territory they called Eritrea after the old greek name Erythreos (th and not t) that meant red. But Erythrea was a vague territory : Yemen, Erythrea ? Somalia ?
