There is some confusion about why I agreed to explore the federal option in Aani's LNP page. I would like to clarify that. :)))
I am for Eelam but I agreed for federal solution because I know the Sinhalese will never ever agree to have federalism in Sri Lanka. Some people might say, Ranil agreed to that in Oslo, but he agreed to many things in Oslo. Did the Sinhalese allow him to implement any of the agreed issues. He even lost his premiership because of that. Whoever say, the Sinhalese will agree to give the Tamils a federal setup of governance is fooling themselves and doing disservice to the Tamils.
The Sinhalese will never give the land rights to the Tamils. They are so greedy and want to grab each and every inch of land from Tamils. That is their age old dream.
Every Sinhala parents and Buddhist monks teach the Sinhala Children to hate the Tamils with their Duttu Gemunu and other mythical Mahavamsa stories. They describe the Tamils as invaders who ruined the Sinhala civilization etc. to their kids at early stages. The fact is, there wasn't an exclusive Sinhala civilization in this island without the Tamil connection from the beginning of history.
The hatred of Tamils is so ingrained in the Sinhala psyche. They can't help it. For them patriotism means grabbing the land from Tamils and occupying every corner of Sri Lanka. They don't mind the Tamils live among them, but we shouldn't have any rights over the land in any part of the country, including the areas we are majority. That is the only reason I said that I will accept the federation.
For example, many Sinhalese congratulated Aani for his change of heart and poured tons of Kudos and cheers but NOT many of them even touched his idea of federalism. That is the way the Sinhalese are. They want the Tamils to be the backup singers for the Sinhalese, but they won't let the Tamils to become the lead singers. Unfortunately many Tamils are happy to sing backup songs for them and Yarlan is dying to be in charge of that group.
India or even America can't make the Sinhalese to change the unitary constitution of Sri Lanka to Federal constitution. Some people think, India will intervene but if China says India to buzz off, India will keep her mouth shut for ever.
The Sinhalese will never ever give the land and police rights to Tamils at all. So, this federation thing won't fly. That's why, I think no harm in saying we will accept the federation to show the real nature of Sinhala racism to the World. :)

You are just regurgitating and spouting the hateful racist junk that was poured into you. Land rights? All citizens in Sri Lanka have equal land rights. You can buy it, own it and sell it. Except in Jaffna. What you REALLY want is the ability to reserve certain parts of the country only for Tamils and have the nerve to call everyone else who doesn't agree to that racist :) |

I am an immigrant in Canada. We didn't live here for thousands of years and many generations and our forefathers didn't fight with the invaders to defend this country. You must be a crazy racist to equate the Tamils in Sri Lanka with the Tamil immigrants in Canada.
But tell you what, the Canadian constitution guarantees equal citizenship for every Canadian regardless of their language, religion, race etc. but Sri Lanka's constitution is Sinhala Buddhist constitution for the Sinhala Buddhist majority only.
