Is the classical version of Tamil in day to day use?
U can hear that mostly in Sub urban cities like Chettinad, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Thirunelveli etc...
Chennai Tamil has got so much Englifized now ! |

So,... what happened to the Gujju ladkie ?
I was trying to get thes ABCD's (American Born Confused Desi's) interested in the human rights problem back in Sri Lanka and 'educate' them on what the IPKF did. Yes....it was like a chapter taken from the book called 'How Not to Impress a Lady'! Then, there was an Orrisi and a Malayalee....same story. And numerology didn't work with the Punjabi!

Madurai Tamil does not seem classical.
People I met also said Thirunelveli Tamil has lost its clasical nature. I havent been there yet though |

see you answered the way I expected with all the hypocrisy. the truth is you people will love other tamils only when it suits you or otherwise you will dump them or kill them.
Mind it Dr. Neelan Thiruchelvam is a real intellectual who loved Sri Lanka and he was a real nice gentleman. then again gentleman ship is an alien quality to you.

I dont think you got my Q right.
I know most (esp Asian) languages have atwo CURRENT versions-written & spoken. Sinhaleses is no exception.
Now- todays written Tamil -is it the classical version -meaning the 'original' version used ages ago?
For eg. - I can understand about 90 % of spoken Tamil (esp the Indian version) -speaking ability is much less. . But when it comes to TV news (in SL) - its less than 10%
South Indian tamil movies ( i hapeen to see rarely) I can understand -quite- vocabulary is 30 % English!

Are you talking about Polish language which has roots to Slavian languages? |
