From Colombo & No wonder Apollo 13 crashed down !

He was a student and collaborator of Sir Fred Hoyle. Their joint work on the infrared spectra of interstellar grains led to developing the modern theory of panspermia. This theory proposes that cosmic dust in interstellar space and in comets is partly organic, and that life on Earth was 'seeded' from space rather than arising through abiogenesis.

He is currently working on developing methods for detecting life processes in space.

'My most significant astronomical contribution was to develop the theory of organic grains in comets and in the interstellar medium. This was done during the 1970s and 80's, and it is now accepted by everyone almost without remembering its origins! I feel I also played a part in the birth of the science of astrobiology.'

He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and the Royal Astronomical Society, and has also won awards for his poetry.

Imartial,

What is the source of your article concerning Pottu Amman's role behind Mahathya's demise? Not that I am surprised. Back in October/November, the SLDF had precise intelligence on Prabhakaran's location. He narrowly escaped death. Only few people close to him would have known beforehand his location. The same for Thamilselvan's location. He was in his bunkers. His bodyguards jumped over him to (or air vacuum).

Pawan,

If someone called a language a polished, it doesn't mean polishing metals or granite. It seems the Sinhalayas don't think before writing. :))) LOL

Polished Meaning:
Showing a high degree of refinement and the assurance that comes from wide social experience sophisticated (having or appealing to those having worldly knowledge and refinement and savoir-faire)

When a language begins to teem with books, it is tending to refinement as those who undertake to teach others must have undergone some labour in improving themselves, they set a proportionate value on their own thoughts, and wish to enforce them by efficacious expressions speech becomes embodied and permanent different modes and phrases are compared, and the best obtains an establishment. By degrees one age improves upon another. Exactness is first obtained, and afterwards elegance. But diction, merely vocal, is always in its childhood. As no man leaves his eloquence behind him, the new generations have all to learn. There may possibly be books without a POLISHED language, but there can be no polished language without books.'

Now take English & Tamil -which is the superior language ?
What are your criteria for @superiority@ of one language over another?

Bakamoona,

Tamil is a classical language and English is not. You can t compare a classical language to a normal language. I think there are ten criteria set by the linguists, in order for a language to be considered classical. I posted a topic about this in my LNP page. I will give you the link. Give me some times I will post a topic in my LNP page again. :))

Thivia ..

I met a preeminent Language expert in the US and asked him about his opinion about the tamil language . His opinion was that it was one step above the language of baboons . If that makes it is highly polished copious classical language so be it ..
