Mahadev.. It may be wrong. If I'm not mistaken the tamil percentage is more than 15 % as of now, inlcuiding all the tamils lived in South and north. And the Muslims are too coming closer to 14% and another small minority of 2 % of other ethnics and the sinhalese are just a little below 69%
LankaPutha,
I have no idea whether it is around 15%. As there is no proper census done recently, very difficult to tell the figures.
However, it is not a matter at all as far as all the communities live together and enjoy the rights and facilities equally.
I believe war can't bring peace or solution to the burning problem of minorities. There should be a political transformation and lot of changes in the attitude of Sinahalese, Tamils Muslims and other communities living in this country.
When we talk about minorities, we talk about Tamils and Muslims (of course most of them are Tamil too). We simply forget other minor groups.

Aandawanay! kallatoni eelam kingdom kaput. Now what can Velupulli Parippuharan do. Eat some masalawaday and sambaru and sleep so that he can achieve his fantasy of Saambaru Yeelam in his dreams.
velupulli Thalathel naattanmi has forgotton that his grand father karuppusami came to srilanka swimming the palk strait looking for a toilet coolie's job. after two generations they got a little education thanks to the British who established some schools in the north. These jokers are basically coolies who were starving in Tamil naddu Coming to 'Ceyloni' as they referred to our country those days was like coming to heaven for these starvin nattamis
these stateless jokers have become a cancer in every country they went. They want separate states.

Gunapala,
What ever the source you referred,
it does not include the population in the NE and people reside in South India temporarily.
There are many Tamils live around the world with refugee status also to be included in the census as they are citizens of SL.
Take a count on excluded! |
