Seventeen soldiers were killed and 135 soldiers were wounded in fighting, most of the injured were the walking wounded , said a military official. Later in the week, troops captured LTTE positions in Nagar Kovil, without much resistance.

Captured guerrilla bunkers were well fortified a trench ran around the bunker in order to enable the defending cadres to retreat. Following the capture of the northern defence lines, troops pushed southward, capturing PallaiLater they captured two coordinate camps known as Echo Nine and G 7 and two satellite camps known as Delta 2 and Echo3 . They advanced southwards, capturing Seranpattu and passed through heavily booby trapped terrain. Battalion Commander of the 5 Gemunu Watch, Lt Colonel Nalinda Kumarasinghe and two other officers were killed in a booby trap explosion. He is the most senior officer to die in the battle front during the fourth Eelam war. In another incident, two officers of the mechanized infantry regiment were killed when they were caught in an IED explosion.

you would need more than 400,000 sla if you want to protect what you have captured
