India expressed its satisfaction to the Sri Lankan government over the distribution of the relief packages sent by India among the internally displaced people in the Wanni region.
During a special meeting with the President`s senior advisor and parliamentarian
Basil Rajapaksa, the Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Alok Prasad thanked the government for the process.
Following a visit to India by Basil Rajapaksa Indian government donated nearly 1700 metric tons of essential food items and garments to the Sri Lankan IDPs in Wanni.
The meeting was held to discuss the project plans for the development of the North that is to begin by the government in the near future with the assistance from India.
The Sri Lankan government has allocated Rs. 300 million to develop the Northern region.
Following the meeting Indian High Commissioner promised to support this project in every possible manner
