Civilians Refuse LTTE Demand and Surrender to Troops

JAFFNA: THIRTY-ONE civilians surrendered to the 55 Division troops serving in the general area of SORANPATTU Friday (09) afternoon seeking protection from the troops. Five children, eight females and eighteen females were among those IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) who had stayed back without leaving the area as ordered by the LTTE. They were provided with meals by the 6 SLLI (Sri Lanka Light Infantry) troops and handed over to the Police.

	Cholera outbreak in Tamil Nadu town, 400 in hospital Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu), Jan 10: At least 400 people were taken to hospital after an outbreak of cholera in this Tamil Nadu town, officials said Saturday.
