but the last sentence hits me somewhere though...

PrinceXX

I mean our unique way of speaking Tamil and our Saivite traditions, and some of our cultural practices are different from main land Tamil Nadu. We still preserve some of the ancient Tamil tradition which the Indian Tamils lost due to the invasion from non Tamils. That's what I meant. :)))

Germans in Russia and the Germans in Germany are Germans but they have their own culture and traditions.

PrinceXX,

The last sentence

'We still want to save our Tamil, religion, culture and traditions unique to us. '

is wrong. Religion is not unique to Tamils.

- of course not only you all humans want that. Thats why you have so many Kovils in Colombo than Buddhist temples.

To have more Kovils and to have links with the pusaris in TN (as Thivya says) do you want a seprate country in North? No political union?

Whom are you going to cheat?

Tigy,
ok,,, does it mean you lot are any better?? why not hold a referendum on the isssue rather than opting to kill ppl??

Why not enter the democratic process and truly represent the tamil people, rather than wave your guns around and get thousands of your own people (as well as your countrymen) killed for a useless cause! The only people killing others is the LTTE... The GoSL is only defending Sri Lanka (and ALL it's people) from home-grown terrorists!

I dont buy your last para.. its a lie. Having a separate country in the north of SL, and want to have just cultural relations with the south of India? no political union?
why not?

Sinhlanut,

The bedrock of the Sri Lankan Tamil identity is the feeling that this island is our mother country. And that fact, namely its geography and history have shaped the cultural traditions of the Sri Lankan Tamils. Our feeling is that we belong to this island and nowhere else. And we are very proud of it. We like to maintain that uniqueness, that's why I am saying we Eelam Tamils will never have a political union with Tamil Nadu.

I assure that if ever Tamil Eelam becomes a reality, those at its helm would NOT seek to promote secessionism in India. The Sri Lankan Tamils are not fools to realise that any untoward provocation by them would prompt India to move in and annex the nascent state to prevent long term consequences. Besides, the new state will be heavily dependent on India for many things. Its protector will have to be India.

The Hindu-Tamil heritage will make it India s staunchest ally. After a debilitating armed struggle the Sri Lankan Tamil people known for their common sense and pragmatism would not promote a separatist struggle in Tamil Nadu against the all-powerful India.

but the last sentence hits me somewhere though...

thivya will write her own view on what you just said...

let me put mine view...

i think the very very common thing between TN and TE is the language tamil. the writing tamil is the same but the way we both talk is totally different to each parts..

except the language issue, the way of life, food and slightly different culture is so unique to us and we could not find the same in TN...

so we want to save it...

say for example,,, the USA, the UK and Australia shares the same language but the way of their lifes is totally different from each countries...

it does not mean, anything but we justy want to save what we had practiced!

PrinceXX, Thivya,

You said:

- Separate country for the uniqueness in pronounciation?

Before that we need to separate Banglore as its a separate language. Will start from New Delhi. Then you can have a separate country in Sri Lanka to preserve your unique pronounciation.

You are asking to divide the whole world, based on the uniquenesses of each?

Ok. if you want that. Lets start from Top, New Delhi.
