Minister Rohitha Bogollagama has pointed out that the Government s decision to proscribe the LTTE outfit has earned international praise.

Giving views to the media after a special discussion with foreign diplomats today, the Foreign Minister observed that there was no objection or hesitation when he briefed the international community on the LTTE ban. This explicitly indicates that the international community does not endorse terrorism. It is a significant victory for Sri Lanka. The Foreign Minister observed that it clearly displays the relations maintained by Sri Lanka with the world during the last two years. The Minister revealed that Sri Lanka was mulling over calling on the United Nations to impose an international ban on the LTTE outfit.

This was long overdue. Thank you Mr. President Mahinda Rajapakse for
the courageous decisions you are taking on behalf of mother Lanka. The
next step should be to ban the Tamil Tiger proxies within and outside
the Parliament, who go about spreading blatant lies against Sri Lanka
and the Sinhala people. They deserve to be severely dealt with. My salute to the SL armed forces and the Police for their dedication and
bravery. Tamil tiger bastards thought that we are cowards like RW.

No objection does not mean endorsement. It means they are not interfering or getting involved. This means it is a local side of the issue

This explicitly indicates that the international community does not endorse terrorism.

Who needed that confirmation?

Hmm well this was needed for us Sri Lankans in SL.. I dont think it can do much impact at the moment.. but it s symbolic value is far greater.. than any physical value.. but one advantage is those TNA Mp's will be shown their proper place.. but it is also good the GOSL has stated that the door is still open for peace talks.. either ways good decision by the GOSL...
