Signs of the 'Failed State' Growing up Faster !

The killing of a prominent newspaper editor today and the bombing of a private television station on January 6, 2009, highlight the Sri Lankan government's failure to stop violence against the media, Human Rights Watch and the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) said. The groups said that past investigations into attacks on journalists have led nowhere, and that the government should act quickly to bring the perpetrators of the attacks to justice.

The fact that these attacks were carried out in broad daylight against vocal critics of the government without any arrests or law enforcement action adds to the climate of impunity in Sri Lanka,' said Roger Normand, Asia-Pacific Director at the ICJ. 'The government must not only condemn these heinous acts, but take effective measures to bring the perpetrators to justice

However, since 2006 the government of President Mahinda Rajapakse has increasingly intimidated and tried to silence the media, nongovernmental organizations, and others with independent or dissenting views with regard to the government's military policies and human rights practices

THat is because you do the same when you come to Hindia !

One correction, it is India, not Hindia just becuase the majority is Hindu's

Very true and very simple, because we know how to respect the cultures and the majority. We do not want to ask for a seperate state if we go to india.. We do respect there culture and rituals. But still we do not pee on neigbours land, instead we use toilets, which again is a custom of some indians.

But when Indians (specially tamils) go to other countries, they try to pee on other's land even and freezing temps,a nd start asking to setup a mini TN State in all other countries, cause they do not know how to respect the majorities interests.

Due to the vast strides made in the information superhighway, everyone and everyone has become a reporter or a defence analyst or a critic nowadays. The media is full of such hacks. It has become so congested that the so called paragons of virtue have become theives as well, eg. Sunanda Deshapriya. This kind of vermin are all over the world. Add to this unscruplous ambulance chasers like Bruce Fein and you have a full pot pouri.
