Seven people including 3 Air Force personnel were killed and 6 more civilians reported injured in an LTTE triggered claymore bomb attack at Morawewa, this morning, 9 January.

Soranpattu Now Comes Under Army
(08.01.2009 20:15 SLT - SL Army)

KILINOCHCHI : VALIANT troops of the Army s 53 and 55 Divisions continuing their forward march after the capture of LTTE stronghold PALLAI this afternoon (08.01.2009), despite LTTE heavy resistance, obstacles, minefields and booby traps took the hold of SORANPATTU, 05 km southeast of PALLAI in the evening as their latest victory to record within a single day.

According to the ground troops, Tiger terrorists went to the extent of exploding a string of cluster bombs which have been banned under UN conventions as the troops were closing in on them.

Troops despite those unethical challenges resisted fearlessly. A few soldiers sustained injuries during those confrontations this afternoon.

It is believed that a considerable number of terrorists now sandwiched between SORANPATTU and PALLAI (?) would have either perished or bled to death since all the routes for their passage either JAFFNA, KILINOCHCHI or to the north of MULLAITTIVU remain now sealed off after the capture of several key strategic major towns in those areas.

Baka/Sathyaji

What I wanted to point out was the use of Cluster Bombs by LTTE. Thats why I posted the Soranpattu liberation.
