Capturing EPS
Some media reports said the pass had been taken but defence spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella told Reuters news agency: 'We haven't captured it. We are moving in and fighting is going on.'

unless there is some very good reason..like if LW had something on Gotha..I don't know..for me Politics is always Dirty
true but still it can't be condoned in any way.
there has to be room for dissenting views...
we will be no better than ltte if we take out all those who have opposing views.
It's a shame there are 'patriots' who were celebrating from yesterday saying a 'traitor' was taken out... |

COLOMBO: Sri Lankan troops fighting Tamil rebels on Friday took full control of the highly strategic Elephant Pass, a causeway linking the Jaffna peninsula with the northern mainland, an official said.
Great news! It must have been another tactical withdrawal from the super-duper powerful LTTE! |

Eps captured
The Army will shortly declare the liberation of Elephant Pass, a garrison lost years ago. It will be a historic victory in this sector and the 53 and 55 have been given the opportunity to raise the lion flag and their share of the victory.
Clearing operations are being finalized at EPS. A Major was killed by a boobytrap but other than that, no serious incidents have occurred since the capture of Soranpattu. The 58 and 53 will not meet up. The former started moving east of Paranthan via Murusamoddai towards Chalai/Mulaitivu.
