the Sri Lankan Tamils will have to find leaders with a certain level of qualification to survive in a difficult climate.
Easier said than done. At the moment the best leadership is self appointment - LTTE style - but only witnin our known areas of exertise. If LTTE had bound themselves to this fundamental principle of democracy - i.e. - divide and self-govern - they would have won. The parts they have would be carried forward by genuine Tamils
At this moment even a questionable Karuna Amman comes across much more appropriate than VP who had demolished the fairly strong position of back in 2005 when he had disallowed the SL Tamils from voting for a much more moderate Ranil who had lost the election by only 180k votes.
Karuna 'looks' more appropriate to the outsider. Does not feel so to the insider.
