Lol !
Four Dalit families in this village, including Raji s parents, were given two acres of land under a government free-land scheme some eight months ago. The upper castes wanted the families to donate their land to the village, which the Dalit families refused to do.
Does this Ring Some Bells ?

if you are so concerned about the peelamist, you should be pressuring tn to give them all refuge status in tn......
Well..when they have their own land why they become refugees in the first place ?
We want that to be stopped... |

Yarlan's Message:
January 2, 2009
I am sincerely requesting the Tamil Diaspora to consider the following:
1. Convince Mr. Prabhakaran to call for an immediate end this 'Final War' and disavow the goal of creating a separate Tamil state.
2. Persuade Mr. Prabhakaran to enter into direct negotiations with the Sri Lankan government. Commit to end the talks within 6 months, arriving on a broad outline of a political settlement. If Constitutional reforms are needed, then all Sri Lankans who want a better future for their land of birth, should campaign for it.
3. The Tamils who lavishly supported the LTTE in the past should, henceforth, create a fund called 'Sri Lanka Restoration Fund.' What is the purpose of this fund? At least 50% of the fund should be given to Tamil and Sinhala families directly affected by the war. These would be families whose fathers, husbands, brothers and sisters died in the battle fields, or just innocent bystanders who lost members of their families (especially the breadwinners) in this war. There are approximately 30,000 war widows in the Northeast. Think of the orphans who had nothing to do with this war. The other 50% should be used to fund the reconstruction of towns and villages and rebuild the economy in the northeast of Sri Lanka. I encourage all Tamils living overseas to contribute to this fund. If Sinhala expatriates want to contribute, then they are most welcome to do so.
4. The President of Sri Lanka should offer to treat seriously wounded LTTE fighters in hospitals in the South. I don't believe the LTTE medical staff has the means and capability to provide the care these young men and women should be receiving, given the circumstances. This would be a golden opportunity for Mahinda Rajapakse to open a bridge of re-conciliation between the Tamil and Sinhala people in the island. It is time for healing the open wounds, not for creating new ones.
5. All the Sri Lankan Tamils living abroad should offer their unanimous support to help re-build the cities, towns and villages devastated by the war in the northeast part of the country. One life at a time, one brick at a time, one shovel at a time, and one fishing net at a time. If members of the Tamil Diaspora still want to support a war in their land of birth, then we shall strive to overcome their prejudice and ignorance.
This is my earnest message to the Tamil intellectuals in the Diaspora who left their people to suffer for more than two decades in Sri Lanka, and in the process helped to destroy an entire generation's future.

Heh Heh... :)
But first they will have to train the peelamists on proper road-side-dump procedures and protocols :)))
