KILINOCHCHI FALLS
Sri Lankan forces captured the LTTE political capital of Kilinochchi, cabinet minister and ruling party spokesman Maithripala Sirisena said.
'The national flag is now flying at Kilinochchi,' said Sirisena, hailing what he described as a 'historic victory for the nation'.
Kilinochchi has been an administrative capital for the LTTE since September, 1998.

keep some tears as it will be needed when tigers regain the lost territory:)
We the srilankans have enough tears though LTTE tried to dry our eyes. It falls from our eyes when ever we see the disabled soldiers, killed soldiers, killed innocent civilians from bombs, wounded civilians from terror acts, LTTE cemetries for the poor souls who are brain washed by some frankies, poor tamils living in Nort and east with several hardships...
But we do not shred tears just because the LTTE takes the terotory to burry thier peelamists. Sri Lanka is a country for all, even a terror leader can rest in peace in a 6 feet terrortoriy. May it be in colombo or killi LTTE can regain that terrotory, a 6 feet area fora wooden coffin with the corpse. |

Dear LNP members,
Kilinochci is in each and every Tamil's heart. If GOSL looks it as an object and purely consider the materialistic value, GOSL had already lost this war and Tamils had won Kilinochchi.
If someone does a merit based conclusion as a lot of intellectually immature LNP members do now, that person loses the value of Kilinochci and the victory.
On a higher level tigers are winners.

Once LTTE is gone, general tamils will not ask for a power sharing solution, cause they know how eaiser to develop when work as a unit than having several fractions working on different agendas
he he he
you guys dont know about tamil people's aspiration for internal self determination :)
if ltte is out it will be even stronger and world will listen to tamil people's democratic form of struggle and more recognition will come from world including from India:)

Kilinochchi falls: Tigers flee towards Mullaitivu
Fri, 2009-01-02 13:01
Ruwan Weeakoon in Colombo
Colombo, 02 January, (Asiantribune.com): The Sri Lanka Army's 571 and 572 Brigades of the 57 Division commanded by Major General Jagatha Dias are entering Kilinochchi from the western flank and the 574 Brigade from the southern flank as this is being written this morning (Jan. 2).
In the meantime Asian Tribune learns that Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapakse is expected to make an official statement today regarding the fall of Kilinochchi according to Minister Keheliya Rambukkawella.
A high ranking officer from the battle front told Asian Tribune that they faced very little resistance from the LTTE in these areas.
Meanwhile Task Force 1, commanded by Brigadier Shavendra Silva has already entered Kilinochchi town from the north and troops are consolidating their newly captured positions at Karadipokku junction, which is the northern edge of Kilinochchi, the LTTE's self proclaimed administrative capital.
The LTTE's 93 Base, which is the administrative hub of the Tiger female cadres, is in army hands right now. Troops of the Sri Lanka Army's 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry, 10 Gajaba regiment and 6 Gemunu Watch are some of the personnel engaged in this offensive. Military sources at the front say that most of the surviving LTTE cadres are fleeing towards Mullaitivu, the last remaining bastion of the Tamil Tigers.
In the Mullaitivu theatre of operations, four formations of the Sri Lanka Army's Task Force 2, 3 and 4 as well as troops of the 59 Division are closing in on Mullaitivu, while the Sri Lanka Air Force MI 24 helicopter gun ships are providing close air support to the advancing troops.
