It was a GA vehicle- UN
The United Nations office in Colombo said that the lorry in which the explosives were recovered from yesterday in Vavuniya did not belong to them. 'I emphasize, it was a Government Agent vehicle,' UN spokesman Gordon Weiss said.
The UN also released a statement. It said 'The UN in Sri Lanka deplores the placing of explosives by an unknown party on a Government Agent truck that was due to join a UN food convoy to the Wanni. The UN reiterates that humanitarian operations and personnel must be protected at all times, in accordance with International
Humanitarian Law, and acknowledges the actions by Government to meet this responsibility. The UN remains committed to support humanitarian operations that will reach Sri Lankan citizens in the Wanni with vital aid. Because of the effective cooperation of all involved, the convoy is now scheduled to depart in the next days accompanied by UN international staff.
