UN to deliver first food convoy to rebel held areas of Sri Lanka after the pull out

The first convoy of food supplies since the aid workers pulled out on 16 September will travel under the UN flag to LTTE-held areas of Sri Lanka`s North in the next few days, the UN Resident Representative in Sri Lanka, Neil Buhne said on Friday.
`The key for us is to get the distribution right, and to get food directly to those who need it most. The success of the first convoy is important, because it will shape those that follow it,` Buhne said.
UN officials are to accompany the convoy and supervise until the distribution is completed.
`The supplies will not be offloaded at warehouses, so the convoy will travel directly to where the IDPs are staying and distribute the supplies,` Buhne said.
`We`re still determining the precise route, but it will be to the east of Kilinochchi, he added.
Despite that no new supplies had reached the rebel areas since the pull-out, the UN official said that the situation is still satisfactory.
`At the moment the situation in the area is okay ... there was some fear because no supplies had come [into the Vanni] after the relocation, but after the new convoy arrives things will get better,` Buhne told the UN news agency IRIN.
The World Food Programme (WFP) convoy will be the first since UN and other international agencies were ordered by the Sri Lankan government to evacuate the LTTE controlled areas in the North.

Civilians needs this help badly
and ltte tamil Nazi teorsts also need a interval from the attacks of sldf, so they can take a break from their running and have breath

Secondly if Singhalese didn't allow the food to go to Vanni all these years despite the fact it was LTTE ruling , Tamils in Vanni would be living six foot under.
This Moron should understand if has an iota of intellect left, that GOSL asked the UN workers to leave Vanni for their safety ,and the logic was that they should not be residing in Vanni subjecting them selves to the dangers of a war. Similarly GOSL had asked civilians to leave Vanni too and come to Vavunia far away from the battle field and requested LTTE to let the civilians leave the battle zone. This kind of requests are rarely made in history of wars in man kind, unless the requesting party is concerned about the civilian casualties. Similarly the GOSL had given an option to LTTE to lay down their arms and come to the negotiation table despite the fact that they have made tremendous successes in defeating the LTTE Terrorists in each battle over the last 2 years chasing them from the East first and now on the verge of delivering the final blow to LTTE, who had over the years progressed from a rag tag hit an run guerrilla fighters to a terrorist conventional army .

It is only the racist Tamil Diaspora along with equally racist and dumb Tamil Nadu politicos blinded by the Tamil Eelam Myth do not
understand that , Tamil racism can't win a Tamil Eelam in Sri Lanka.

what ? peace talks?
is MR ready with any proposal as a basis for negotiation? what we know from his actions is he is only interested in military solution.if he is genuine in finding a negotiated political solution he should have atleast put forward a solution at least to the satisfaction of like anandasangaree, douglas ,pillayan,karuna before inviting ltte for talks.
who on earth will give up their arms without any guarantee for a just solution. giving up arms should be a part of the solution implememented at the final stage only.

it is because of ic pressure govt is reluctantly sending foods to vanni. even that is being done after making lot of fuss and delay.govt failed in compelling people to cOme to vavunia by threat.they wanted to use food as weapon but the co chair , UN and other ic has made pressure on govt and finally govt has to give up its tuff stance and eat the humble pie:))))

vavunia is not safe. even army hq is under ltte arti fire. it is dangerous for civilians to live in concentrated camps in vavunia as there is risk of losing many lives in case war brokes out in vavunia between ltte and sla .
