Lets go back a couple of years....
New Delhi, May 10, IRNA
Sri Lanka-LTTE-Japanese Envoy
Talks between the Japanese Special Peace Envoy Yasushi Akashi and the LTTE's political wing leader, S P Tamilselvan, held in Kilinochchi on Tuesday, have failed.
After meeting the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa in Colombo on Monday, Akashi had gone to Kiliniochchi to persuade the LTTE to come for a second round of peace talks in Geneva.
Rajapaksa told the Japanese envoy that his government was ready for talks, and asked him to persuade the LTTE to come to the negotiating table.
But Tamilselvan told Akashi bluntly that the existing conditions in the Tamil-speaking northeast were not at all conducive for the resumption of talks, said a leading English daily 'Hindustan Times' here.
Ironic isnt it?
Akashi, Rajapaksha and his govt still here. But the tough talking Tamiselvan is no more and LTTE at the brink of extinction. Edited By - Dewey - 28 Sep 2008 13:34:00 GMT |

even ltte went for talks it would have failed at some point in time. btw even now MR does not have any idea of what solution he is going to offer. he thinks 13th amendment would do. what foolish thing. |

LTTE could have gone anyway before making assumptions. Now they can't even ask of peace talks. This is what I have been telling you that Velu got over his head and believed in invincibility of LTTE. :)))
I am off.. bye

Rajapaksa told the Japanese envoy that his government was ready for talks, and asked him to persuade the LTTE to come to the negotiating table.
The Sinhalese used this line 'ready for talk' to buy time and fool the international community. The LTTE asked the government to implement the outcome of previous talks, and the Sinhalese refused. The Sinhalese have never implemented any of the talk/agreements from 1948. The Sinhalese were trying to take Prabhakaran for a ride, like they did to all other Tamil leaders before him with this 'ready for talk' mantra. Talk for what when you don't implement the agreements and 'talks'.

If Mr.Sarath Fonseka can not reach LTTE head quarters within 4 days,( for remaining 4 kilometers or his firing distance ) I would like to advise Mr.Mahinda and his foreign minister to rush up immediately to New Delhi to accept the Indian proposition of federal administration for Tamils within the souverignty of Sri lanka.
The advice on federal administration for Tamil was a repeated message given to sri lankan gouvernment ( past or previous or even future ) by every successive Indian Gouvernment.
So there is no use of waiting and wasting the nation's poor resources on this bloody war and it is time now to act quickly before any unavoidable partition could be imposed by UN and European Union in Sri Lanka.
There is nothing to be ashamed to send someone immediately or sort of delegation composed of Tamils, and sinhalese to talk with the Indian authorities and Tamil Nadu political parties if possible. |
