In response to a query from a media person, MP Range Bandara said that The Hindu newspaper published in India stated that two Indian Army officials were injured in the attack and the Indian High Commissioner of Sri Lanka had also confirmed it.
The UNP MP said that not only the Prime Minister but also the Air Force Commander lie to media. Despite the statement that the country has a radar system that covers the entire country and no LTTE aircraft will be allowed to be airlifted, the LTTE attacked Trincomalee and Vavuniya proving that the Air Force Commander is lying to the people.
Commenting on the Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse s statement that LTTE air attacks were ineffective, Mr. Range Bandara said that LTTE had launched nine air attacks in seven sorties and 26 airplanes worth Rs. 6.5 billion were destroyed in Anuradhapura attack. In such context, the Defense Secretary said that Air Force launched 6000 attacks whilst Tigers launched mere six attacks. The MP questioned how much money was spent in this regard.
MP Range Bandara said that one air raid of Air Force in Vanni cost at least a million rupees and Rs. Six billion had been spent for the 6000 attacks. He asked what the outcome of them if single aircraft of the LTTE had not been shot down. He questioned the meaning of sacrifices of thousands of security forces personnel in this context.
