Authorities in northern Sri Lanka say that they expect nearly 200,000 Internally Displaced People (IDPs) to arrive in Vavuniya in the near future.
Vavuniya Acting Government Agent (GA), Nicolas Pillai, told BBC Sandeshaya that the authorities are prepared to provide facilities to IDPs arriving from the LTTE-held Vanni.
`Not many people have arrived yet but we expect 150,000 -200,000 IDPs to arrive in soon,` he told journalist Dinasena Ratugamage.
The GA made the remarks after over three-hour meeting with foreign workers of Non Government Organisations (NGOs) who have recently left rebel-held Kilinochchi and Muttur.
NGO and INGO workers were earlier this week ordered by the government to leave LTTE-controlled areas, last week.
UN and many other INGO workers have already left but ICRC said their workers will remain to help civilians in the rebel-held areas.
Acting GA Nicolas Pillai said the government is to establish three camps to accommodate the civilians arriving from Kilinochchi and Mulativu.
The NGO workers refused to comment on the meeting.

What I read between these lines is that with the news black out SLDFs are cleaning left over parts of Wanni.
I think, Velu may escape within seconds if a foreign jet lands in Wanni during the dark cloudy nights during the monsoon climate..

| Aid workers have commented that the situation inside IDP camps is reminiscent of Nazi concentration camps. There is no freedom of movement, every Tamil civilian is suspected of being a terrorist and the conditions are horrible. |

IDPs last to leave Wanni will be from those so called MA VEERAR families and they are hard core LTT - supporters.
So, they definitely will be quick to BITE THE HANDS that THEY WERE FED.
So, it is important SLDFs to be careful about them.
LTT also will send some Moles to get information play havoc at the last moment.

| What I read between the lines is that GOSL is hatching a plan to loot the foreign donors of the funds they are using in the LTTE controlled area's and more. |

Pretty easy.. there are lots of 'double agents' among the IDP's and they weed them out with ease. Also, when the civilians are out of the tiger control areas, they RAT out these guys to the 'proper' authorities :) |

| What I read between the lines is that GOSL scanning all IDP'a to detect and isolate escaping Eelamists where IDP's will find the process very disturbing.Hence blame the Eelam Tamil Terrorists for IDP's plight...:-) |

It is wishful thinking that any significant numbers of tamils will leave the Vanni because of the war.
They know of the appaling conditions under which the displaced tamils are living under in the East.Press reports indicate that the conditions are akin to Nazi concentration camps.
The SLA and other tamil coolie forces of the govt will have a whale of a time abductiong and killing tamils from these camps at will on meer suspicion of being LTTE sympatisers. The tamils of the Vanni are well aware of this.
