Why do they want to go to army-held areas if the army is bombing them?
Read what I said, 'The Sinhala Nazi regime is bombing the civilian homes and villages'. Although the Sinhalese love to kill all the Tamils and get rid of the Tamils from Sri Lanka, they can't do another Semmani style mass killing again.
The world is watching and Semmani style mass grave will evoke strong sentiments in Tamil Nadu. That is the reason the Sinhalese are making the life miserable for the Tamils in Vanni and making them refugees in their own homes and villages.
They want the Tamils to leave their traditional villages and live as IDPs in government held areas. This is an easy way to destroy the Tamil's claim of Home land. We all know the tricks of Sinhala racists, that's why the Tamils are still behind Prabhakaran.

Please explain why the 'traditional enemies of the Tamils' who vastly outnumber Tamils in Sri Lanka didn't just finish off the Tamil race in one fell swoop?

'Sir, soldiers join the Army to die in the battlefield and not to fall off a coconut tree and die! To us, there's a difference in the way we end our lives and we have chosen the former. Our Army never grumbled about fighting when it lost 1,500 men in one night. We will not grumble now. If 4,000 of us have to die to take Kilinochchi, I am happy to be part of that 4,000 for this is why we are in the Army'

Semmo,
traitors who will be ready to sell anything :-))
Maybe they're 'traitors' because they have seen their family killed by the LTTE? But of course I'm wrong: the LTTE never kills innocent Tamils.
BTW whats the count of chickens (Desrters) in SLA now?
Cowards will be cowards. What matters is that there is still a hell of a lot more soldiers to make up for the deserters. In fact, there are enough troops for us to make a combined assault on seven fronts, as you can see here:
