The president has been asked in writing to appoint a Parliamentary Select Committee to probe Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva, says a Buddhist monk. Ven. Galagodatte Gnanasara Thera, Director of the National Observation Centre against Unethical Conversions, said the CJ had demeaned the Buddhist clergy in a recent ruling, and verdicts had been questionable in around 100 cases heard by him.
Speaking to the media at the Centre in Navala today (Sept. 08th), the prelate said observing a court proceeding is no taboo, but the CJ had ordered 'send them (Buddhist clergy) out' from a hearing against a monk on a sound pollution charge.
Ven. Gnanasara Thera alleged the top prelates had been out of their mind and belittled Buddhist traditions when the CJ challenged the dignity of the clergy.
He noted that even in parliament, Buddhist monk MPs do not rise up when the mace is brought in or the speaker makes his appearance at the supreme legislature.
Ven. Gnanasara Thera said new sound pollution prevention laws prevented the clergy from carrying on with their traditional observances, and Ven. Pannala Pannaloka Thera is in remand as victim of one such instance.
Had the country's chief justice been a non-Buddhist, there would not have been a ruling against a monk in that manner, he said.
Ven. Gnanasara Thera vowed to press on with the struggle, saying that young monks would organize a march from Colombo to Kandy and a dhamma dialogue initiated towards the establishment of a separate court for the clergy and to unite patriotic forces.

Sri Lanka bars foreign aid workers from rebel area
Yes, very good move! The GoSL cannot garantee the safety of these aid workers, so they should not allow them to travel into this war zone. The SLA is stepping up the offensive, and they have setup a corridor for civilians in the area to safely leave the conflict areas, and the AID workers should be protected also! If there are no civilans in the area, then there is no need for AID workers!
Unless that is, if they are 'aiding' the terrorists, hence why they need to stay back, which then makes them terrorists themselves! |

The GOSL decision comes at the right time and have tripple effects.
1. The LTTE had issued a notice prior to this that all INGOs and NGOs in wanni to support them and nobody was to leave the LTTE areas. So, firstly, GOSL has countered that and since Gov. writ should be obeyed by all INGOs and NGOs, they will have to move out all personnel and, most importantly, their vehicles and equipment. This nullifies the LTTE's attempt at using INGO and NGO vehicles and equipment as bait and later blaming the SLDF for catastrophes on which the LTTE propaganda machine can work on.
2. GOSL has earlier check-mated the LTTE in declaring safe passage to civillians to come to vavunia thus pre-emptying any HR organizations or INGO/NGO clan to hold the government at fault for not planning to save the civillians. Now that the GOSL had done that, the onus has automatically fallen on the LTTE to comply or go their own way at their own risk.
3. By doing so, GOSL has made the foreground to isolate LTTE in the eyes of the LTTE and the first instance of the success of the GOSL came a few days back from UN itself. It said that LTTE should allow the ppl to go to safer areas.
this had another significant effect in that the UN had said that even they cannot persuade the wanni civillians to ccome to GOSL areas. By saying that, UN has tacitly ruled themselves out of pressing R2P concept on the GOSL. |

Booty Anna,
or if they don't..u starve innocent civilians to death..!!
As Sold Representative of Tamils, LTTP can cultivate 'sweet Potato' and feed them,..... Not a big problem,...
Also there are several big animals, such as a Fat Pig, a Fat Buffalo, a bull, etc... in Kilinochchi for those who love meat. I am sure someone would like to eat Bacon soon.
DEWEY,...
I have a representative in Prabhakaran's bunker for that,.... These days, it's dry season,... All the child soldiers have been sent to dig bunkers,...and he needs to think of a new fight plan,... he is distracted by those little ones, so he sent them up..... |

Reuters, September 9. COLOMBO, Sept 9 (Reuters) - Sri Lanka's Tamil Tiger rebels bombed a government-controlled town at the rear of the frontline using a light aircraft, military sources said on Tuesday.
'Three aircraft were seen on radar. One was over Vavuniya and dropped a bomb and went back. There was also an artillery attack into Vavuniya,' said a military official who spoke on condition of anonymity. Two other military officials confirmed the strike. (Editing by Alex Richardson)

| Most of these foreign workers carry out the tasks LTTE direct them to do. They are attending them because they get good money from those organizations. War is not interested to them as far as they are getting money. So many of these foreigh workers wan't return to govt controlled areas. |
