Returning from a day at the pola just last week clutching 200 grams of bandakka in my left hand and a teaspoonful of Lakspray powdered milk in the other, I was thinking to myself that for Paradisians if it isn t one thing it is always something else.

You try clutching bandakka in one hand and milk powder in the other, darling, especially by two delicate hands sporting a rather expensive manicure that cost many kilos of bandakka and a sprig of karapincha, and you will know exactly what I mean.

And if there were another chap who would not only know exactly what I mean but would also, 10 to one, be clutching at his eyebrows thinking that in Paradise if it wasn t one thing it was another thing, then that man is undoubtedly Peebee Jay of the counting house.

The Keells Super deal may have exceeded the use by date and hit itself on the yawn button for most Paradisians but for the former chairman of the Perky place Nee-hal Amarai it is just the hobby to take up in later life. Having exhausted all the links and potential connections to both Peebee Jay and JKH that he could think of by firing letters, notices, collations, interpolations, deeds poll, declarations and such like, the chap is not about to rest on his litigious laurels.

It is the overwhelming fear that Thellie too perchance would be sent a notice of contempt in a somewhat disapproving tone by the likes of Nee-hal for linking herself to the impugned LMSL deal and the foul fellows that clinched it, by purchasing of a Sunday morning a Keells garlic and onion sausage that has kept me from the supermarket this past week.

Little wonder then that Thellie was compelled to tuck her brolly under her arm and trudge along to the marketplace of the martyred proletariat where my nicely pedicured feet walked with the masses but did not lose, I hasten to add, the aristocratic and uncommon touch.

And talking of super deals and markets darling it s all about the moolah these days in Paradise as you well know. Super branding is not so much earned as it is bought, Thellie was only recently told.

Thellie, darling, due to her conservative up bringing in a quiet neighbourhood where the most exciting prospect in the vicinity was the shy village curate down at the parsonage, has a rather trusting heart and a na ve out-look. Ergo, it sent my ganglions a whirring when I was given the low down on super brands.

Letters and what not sent out pall mall no no this time not by Nee-hal but by the super branding guys inviting companies to nominate themselves as having super brand status albeit at a super price. Pay it and you are super branded. And to think I thought and I am sure you and Shiro also thought, that superbrand status was earned.

Next thing you know Thellie will be told the SLS mark is bought and not earned. It would spell the end of humanity as we know it out here in Paradise. Anyway, Thellie once saw an email on the same sort of lines dearie. The subject line read, No need to study. Just buy your degree.

Perhaps just a virus carrier. Thellie who never opens any email will never know.

And as for buying superbranding dear, well why not? If a million smackers could buy selected businessmen a biriyani packet and a smidgen of cheap red wine at Temple Trees then why can t 10 million smackers buy a company superbrand status? Though some spoil sports like that high faluted Maharaja fellow declined to buy his superbrand status on the grounds he didn t have to pay for anything he had earned already.

But if buying superbranding status was not enough a little birdie told Thellie that even being named the top 10 business leaders in Sri Lanka came at a bally price. And you should know dearie, having given the award to the 10 hapless fellows with one hand and having taken a sizeable envelope with the other hand.

Never mind dear, it s all for the good of ole Hambantot eh? And getting your favourite monk to advocate such timely donations is just the way Thellie herself would have handled it. After all, these are no ordinary folk they are top notch leaders who have no time to be mucking about and coming over for biriyani today and cheap wine tomorrow whether hosted at the Araliya Abode takaran shed or otherwise.

Better to kill two birds with a single stone by getting the chaps who were coming to the Temple abode in any case to bring with them a little something for the village of Medamulane. Eh?

Darling all Thellie can say is, that it may be well past Avurudhu season but at the Paradisian Araliya Abode the ganu denu never ends.

Why are you so afraid to give a mere e-mail. I thought you guys are heroes fighting Sinhala Genocide !!

In some cases when Tamil girls refuse and run back home and parents dont take them back to Senior Tamils in LTTE, they give a cruel punishmant.

That is to do to teh girl by several Tamil LTTE heros in front of the parents. Imagine that poor Tamil mother and father to see their daughter being done like an animal.

Have you never heard the secret tears of Tamil parents yet !

How many parents had hanged them in the jungles !

Go on help the LTTE !

Let's talk this step by step.

Who has control over Mannar district, SLA or LTT ?

Berty, Confidant people talk only the positives. they use negatives only to correct themselves.

How do politicians become rich overnight?

I read in a recent edition of The Sunday Leader that a minister who is from Beruwela has not declared his assets. I am personally aware that he has achieved much after he became a politician.

All his businesses like operating private buses and shops are allegedly run by his wife who is drawing a salary from the government with government vehicles provided to her, her relatives, and even step children, to run around. The family allegedly owns more than three houses. Overseas trips are undertaken with the entire family in tow. How can a new minister become so wealthy overnight?

How is it that he allegedly burned down a Christian church (Assembly of God) in the district when his wife and in-laws are all Christians? Two innocent officers attached to the Bribery Commission who probed his activities have been transferred. All these things are done with white collar workers money who pay taxes from their salaries for everything including consumer items. Where is justice?

Doesn t anybody check on politicians assets and how they become super rich overnight? Where will these people end up?

Out of topic-but interesting,

MOST BRITISH NEWSPAPERS PRAISE THE SRI LANKAN YOUNG MAN, THE ONLY ONE WHO COULD SURF STANDING ON HIS HEAD

A dark skinned 22 year old Sri Lankan young man virtually unknown in his home country, Sri Lanka is hitting headlines in almost every newspaper in England as the one who has achieved no Briton could succeed in doing.

Describing the cause for his celebrity status the mass circulated , The Sun newspaper said , Dulip, 22, stunned fellow surfers when he first mounted his board and performed a headstand while riding the waves.

Duleep Kokuhennedige, who lived by the Southern coast , with his family , was not only unknown but also lost everything by the Boxing Day Tsunami back at home which occurred December 26 2004 is today becoming popular increasingly as a tourist attraction at the English seaside town of Dorset.

Despite he invented the trick of surfing standing on his head in his native Sri Lanka where the sport is not that popular he received instant fame due to his acrobatic stunt in England where the popular summer sport of the Sri Lankan is catching headlines as no one else is able to emulate him in Britain

The more conservative Daily Telegraph newspaper said: Mr Kokuhannadige has tried to teach his friends how to surf upside down but none of them have been able to do the stunt.

Fellow surfer Ross Broad, 19, said: 'Most of us are just happy to stand on our boards for a few seconds let alone do it upside down.'
