The British High Commission in Colombo Friday admitted the transfer of a part of the visa-processing operations to Chennai, India, has not been as smooth as anticipated.
Unfortunately, this is causing longer than usual processing times. As a result, a high number of Sri Lankans have experienced a delay in receiving their visas. This kind of remote processing of visa applications is common across the global visa services network and is generally working well, the High Commission said in a statement.
The statement comes in the wake of a series of complaints about delays in the issue of UK visas, causing much inconvenience to travellers. The High Commission said they were working on speeding up the processing time, and requested persons planning to travel to Britain to submit their visa applications well in advance

It is amazing that given the support LTTe has from NGO's, Norway, US, EU, and all HUman Rights and Catholic churches even Tamil Nadu and all the resources , money and people Velupilla still cant hold on.
What made the SLA so powerful ?
And Rajapkse willing to challenge any nation that harbors LTTE.
JR, Premadasa, DB, Chandi, Ranil nobody had this Rajapakse's vison and strength.
Rajapalse has the right approach to every situation. Just getting India to our side alone is enough. |

Any possible lifeline for LTTE in the horizon ?
The objectives of these military operations were arranged in a particular logical order. For long time, it was felt the need to link SLA stationed in North to Vavnia for both tactical as well as defensive reasons with limited resources. With this objective crudely in mind, then defense minister Anurudha Ratwatta started operation jayasikuru to capture A-9 road in 1995? and then cut the LTTE controlled area in half. Though logically such a acquisition of A-9 road could cut in half the LTTE controlled area, Ratwatte failed to think beyond that, how to retain A-9. The rest is history.
In brief, new military operations were planned to: capture A-9 (Mannar-Poonaryan) and link North and South, Provide a land route for logistics to North, Stop LTTE movements across Mannar bay, easy access to LTTE controlled Kilinochchi and neighboring areas.
As a result of this step wise approach, even SLA will stop their operations after Poonaryan, LTTE will not be able to function as an independent unit in Mulathivu as they used to do earlier. |
