Let the poor village boys to live in peace, they joined the forces just to feed their family and build a small house not mansions in UK , USA. They knew what would have happened if they had stayed in forces, most probably MIA. The poor villagers would never come to know what would have happened to their loved ones.

Continuing search for army deserters
TamilNet, Tuesday, 27 October 1998, 15:10 GMT

A spokesman for the Sri Lankan Ministry of Defence (MoD) said today that the Police have arrested 818 army deserters since last Tuesday, October 20. He said they will be subject to a brief retraining program and be sent off to the front soon.

The MoD spokesman claimed that 2467 had surrendered during the blanket amnesty granted to army deserters from October 17 to October 19 and that 2889 were arrested in various parts of the island between October 7 and October 15, netting the army a total of 5356 deserters this month. All will be sent to the war front he said.

Judge in the court: Why did you desert?

Deserter: Sir, only job available in my village is war.

Judge: Don't you think that this is an offence?

Hey guys, what happened to Yoshitha Rajapakse? He was enrolled
to the Navy with much publicity just to feed punnakku to the village lads and sent to UK denying that opportunity to a qualified Naval officer. And MR went to his graduation ceremony
and the guy is still missing in action. When he is going to return and fight the tigers?

Only poor peoples children are sent to the war front forcibly.

Well done MR.Rajapakse and Family:))

Or perhaps we should treat SLA deserters in the same kind and compassionate way that the ZHTTP treats their deserters?

It is nothing but hypocritical for ZHTTP supporters to be pointing fingers at SLA when it comes to the treatment of deserters.
