Army Chief unveils 'War Heroes' memorial in Jaffna

Paying utmost tribute to the sacrifices made by the tri-forces personnel and Police in the call of duty, the Army Chief Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka unveiled the 'War Heroes' memorial at Palaly, during a field visit made to the peninsula this morning (Sep 6).

The Army Chief was accompanied by the Jaffna Security Forces Commander, Major General G.A Chandrasiri, Divisional Commanders of SLA, Palaly SLAF base Commanding Officer Wing Commander A.J Amarasinghe, Jaffna DIG W.S.U. Fernando and few other senior military officials.

	Stop the madness and erect 10+ big wind turbines to generate the needed power. Western countries are all switching to wind power and we are installing diesel generators. We have limited period of wind in North and East. We will install thermal power plants in our homeland. After few years, we will think about nuclear power plants.

	Joke of the day from defence.lk.... the Army Chief Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka unveiled the 'War Heroes' memorial at Palaly Palaly and the army head quarters in Colombo are same. Instead of Palaly, he could have unveiled the memorial in the place where the bomber targted him inside the head quarters.
