I have been to South India few times from 1970's to 1980'.In my first visit I had to put up with a university student in Kaakinada (Thelegu) as he refused me to be alone in a hotel (no difference in facilities).Well...I accepted and stayed couple of night at his parents to find that females wake up early in the morning to go to fields for big nature calls followed by males. The whole village knew where I did mine as I left toilet paper with my dump and came to his house to get washed while he used water fro the fields.yuk...
Eventually I had a friendly discussion with him relating to hygiene issues over human faeces in open fields.
I was invited again in 1980's to find he has transformed the entire house and built outside toilets with good sanitary ware. This is not fiction but facts. I am sure chennaiguuy will acknowledge that this practice is still exists in South India...:-)

Chennai, Sep 3 : Power crisis in Tamil Nadu has badly hit the textile sector as exports have come down from Rs 3,000 crore to Rs 1,800 crore with more than 50,000 employees rendered jobless, AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa claimed today.

The above said are LTTE statistics published as per GOSL Defense ministry and Colombo sinhala pacha puwath not applicable for GOSL forces
