residents in the surrounding area alerted the Police. The police rushed to the temple and arrested the culprits and produced them at the courts on Wednesday.

Important thing is they caught the culprits.

The executive, the judiciary and the legislature should act independently without any confrontation, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said.

The President was speaking at the swearing in at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (September 04th) of the chief ministers, ministers and councilors of the UPFA newly elected to the North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Councils.

The president also said that he respected decisions of the judiciary, adding that he would not comment on them.

Referring to the arrest of a Buddhist monk on the charge of sound pollution, President Rajapaksa said he would not intervene despite receiving many inquiries as to why he did not do so.

At a time when a war is being waged to unite the country, the party should have no internal disputes and all should work in a more vigorous and diligent manner, the President said.

Congratulating the UPFA members for winning the two provincial council polls, he added that the victory has proved the clear mandate of the voters.

Involving religion is always a delicate issue..

Recently a Church was vandalized and the pastor was assaulted and there was a picture of a Monk too..

I suppose we will be better off respecting all religions and not discussing it in an open Forum..

I will not further comment on this topic..

Levy levy....this is not peelam...we have a law and we will punish under that. We will not killing like you r practising in Peelam....
:-)

O Rly? Have you punished your jihadi goon and other troops responsible for the murder of 17 aid workers? How about the STF goons who killed the 5 boys in Trinco, etc. etc. Please come talk to me after you have brought all of them to justice.

Until then your words are pathetic and empty.

do you know many temples in the north and the east has been damaged, bulldozed by LTTE. did you acted in the same manner then. take a look at your conscience

hope you get Pawan's message.

no one commends any attack on any religious places. but you guys are still celibrating LTTE bomb attack on Temple of Tooth.

as Pawan said, before you ask others to walk straight, you better learn how to walk.

Respecting all religions are a good and right thing to do but not discussing issues because one thinks its politically incorrect will be a blunder.
