1) In my opinion this law must be equal to all.
2) It was the JHU who pushed this law.
3) Even if they JHU didnt push for this law, then they definitely voted for it or else it wouldn't have got passed in parliment! Someone with balls must come forward and expose this!

I think practically everyone knows why this bill was brought forward.
These monks are too damn stupid, don't practice or preach the religion and think they are political activists and then complain about other religions.
Then they want a conversion bill too to prevent the people moving away from these free loading frauds. |

I do not see the problem is the law, the problem is that monk defied it.
If law is the problem, they should go back to parliment or challenge in the supreme court and nullify it.
Why Buddhist monks think they are above the law? its because Zingariztanis want to have it that way... what a disgraceful bunch! |

If JHU push for the their own law to be abolished its not gonna be nice! Opposition will expose this....
From the day of their inception, i never liked the idea of monks getting into parliment or priests of any other religion for that matter. They will always put religion first which is disastrous in a multiethnic country. This is just wut the LTTE ordered!
I would really like to see the popularity of JHU at the next election! |

I agree with you in that there should not be controls put on places of worship. But it is the JHU who brought this bill and it precisely targeted the mosques. If you can find some local news papers during the time this bill was passed you will see how monks openly were against the mosques call to prayer.
So now there is a new meaning when you say:
'Hamuduruwo elan kanawa'. |

Those who are against religious places using the speakers for religious festivals, are those who doesnt believe in a religion.
Sounds are fine, as long as they do not bother other people. Especially, Muslims. They use sound with early morning prayers and and wake up the whole community. Now, seems like Buddhists also started doing that nonsense! |

Nacho:
compared to that this religious calls, sermons and bells sounding at temples, kovils, mosques and churches are nothing.
Thats fine, but don't you think people deserve a good night sleep.
In fact I experienced this sound nonsense in Malaysia and Indonesia as well, when I was visiting there for some friend's weddings. It was really annoying.
Look the religions were doing fine for thousands of years without loudspeakers. Did Buddha, Jesus, or Mohmed used loudspeakers? |

In the cities noise pollution should be monitored whtether it is religios or not. Its fine in the villages, I agree mosques are worse than the budhist temples!

The Supreme Court yesterday rejected the motion seeking bail for Venerable Pannala Pragnaloka Thera of the Welikadawatte Temple Rajagiriya who had been remanded on a Supreme Court order for failing to answer notice to appear before the Court.
The Chief Justice told the counsel that if a positive response is not shown by the group of monks, the Court will take appropriate action. Counsel Thiranagama then spoke to the monks. They remained seated without any response |
