it is badulla, lot of poor tamils live there as plantation workers, almost a majority, have your ever considered that fact? the girls could be from that community, check the data from the hospitals first pls.

what did you find wrong from my post ? I have posted that as a major issue should be taken into consideration regardless of sinhalese / tamils .

Monks going cracy. At least it is encouraging that the Zingariztanis in LNP also feel bad about the disgraceful act done by this monk in Colombo.

But, he is not alone....

CAMBODIA -- 29 (AP) - (Kyodo) A Buddhist monk has been charged with raping and killing a 10-year-old girl in Cambodia's central Kampong Thom Province,

BANGKOK -- A Buddhist monk was last night charged with murder and robbery after he confessed to killing Johanne Masheder, the 23-year-old British woman who went missing in Thailand in December.

TOKYO (AP) A Japanese monk trying to rid his temple of a hornet's nest panicked when the hornets attacked him and dropped a torch, burning his temple to the ground, police said Thursday. (But, this monk may be just an innocent foolish monk)

Monk was caught carrying huge stock of weapons asl well in Sri Lanka, but Buddhiztan hid it under the rug.

joke of the day

JHU say mosques were the cause for the sound pollution act!

JHU to intervene

By Kelum Bandara

The JHU said yesterday it hoped to intervene in the Supreme Court case involving a Buddhist monk who was remanded for not appearing in court for allegedly violating a Supreme Court order on sound pollution.

JHU legal adviser and Central Environment Authority Chairman Udaya Gammanpila told journalists his party would make submissions to Court with regard to sound pollution in respect of Buddhist monks and their religious activities.

Countering an allegation that this monk was remanded in keeping with an Act of Parliament moved by the JHU, Mr. Gammanpila said his party never introduced any such a law or regulation.

We are asking those who make such allegations to mention the particular number of such an Act if possible. As far as we are concerned, there is no such Act introduced by the JHU or the Environment Ministry which has a JHU member as its Minister, he said.

He said that these regulations related to the use of sound equipment had come subsequent to a court case filed by the authorities of a Mosque against another Mosque.

There are certain instructions given to the police when taking action against those violating the court direction, he said.

He said that the JHU was saddened about what happened to this Buddhist monk, and would make submissions to the court regarding the impact of this direction on the Buddhist monks and religious activities.

Mr. Gammanpila said that this monk had been brought before court based on an application filed by the Environmental Foundation Ltd, which was a Non-Governmental Organisation.

The Central Environment Authority has no link or contact with this organization. We have not issued any permission for it either, he said.

He said that the CEA had authorized the National Building Research Bureau, the Moratuwa University and the ITI only to determine the levels of sounds.
