Lot of Southern Modayans are getting fire only in their belly !

Paawam !

A cylinder of 12.5 kilograms will cost 1,863 rupees, up 126 rupees from midnight Sunday, the company said.
The price which is approved by the consumer protection office is based on a formula which has a two-month time lag and is based on the Saudi Aramco contract price of June and July.

LPG is a mixture of butane and propane.

In August, the Saudi benchmark for LPG has moved down, but its benefit will be felt in November, Shell Gas finance director R Saldeen told LBO.

The September benchmark price is to be announced tomorrow.

The formula is based on Saudi contract price and other items such as freight, government taxes and terminal charges.

Saldeen said only about 50 percent of a recent freight price increase has been granted.

Gas is carried on specialized pressure vessels.

In April inflation measured by the widely watched Colombo Consumer Price Index hit 29.9 percent.

Petrol is also heavily over-priced, with petrol users being fleeced by the state-run Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, to cover losses on diesel. The government also taxes petrol heavily.

Petrol is used by motorcycle owners and small car users, while diesel is used by businesses and rich sections of society that can afford diesel vehicles which are discouraged with import taxes.

However politicians import diesel vehicles tax free and drive around in subsidized diesel. Politicians in Sri Lanka have misled the population into believing that inflation is a petroleum - specifically diesel - phenomenon rather than a monetary one.

On Friday the central bank said international prices of refined petrol fell to about 88 rupees a litre. But state-run CPC retails petrol at 157 rupees a litre.

Yuck Colombo !

No wonder Foreigners are running scared away from Sorry lanka !

:-))

the fire burning at the garbage dump at Bloemendhal, it is still smouldering beneath the surface with over 500 families affected.
We had to treat 140 residents of the area for bronchitis and asthma, said Dr Pradeep Kariyawasam, the Chief Medical Officer of the Colombo Municipal Council. We are monitoring the situation, however there is very little that could be done by the CMC.
Residents claim that the fire caused by spontaneous combustion at the garbage dump earlier this week is still raging on at some of the low lying areas of the dump. Earlier on inspection, the CMC alerted the disaster management centre which sent the air force to douse the flames.
The CMC has issued directives to the private company that is in charge of garbage collection to dispose the garbage at separate locations. However, Bloemendhal is the only available garbage dump at present in the country where at least 70-80 tonnes of city garbage is dumped everyday. The garbage dump stands on a wetland spreading over 22 acres.
We cannot be certain if the fire may start up again. It likely will. However we have advised the 500 families that are living nearby in over 1500 shanties to take precaution, since this has become a severe health hazard, added Kariyawasam.
According to him, most of the shanties are built on property belonging to the railway department which makes them illegal structures in the vicinity. He however added that an immediate short term solution should be sought to the problem.

Guys,

did you see this...

Attacks at LTTE outposts in Kilinochchi and Mullaittivu by unidentified gunmen have caused relentless fear in the tiger inner circles who despite suspecting military infiltrations are now bamboozled with a new form of shadow fighters within. Leaflets were also been distributed among several coastal localities in Kilinochchi a fortnight ago requesting civilians to stand against LTTE, who are now relying on subtle tactics of using civilians as human shields to reverse a sudden military assault on the tiger heartland.
