Just picking up first example of yours!
Sri Lanka had two international level players Arjun Fernando and Umesh Wallooppillai almost 15 years ago, but thereafter our competitiveness in the international arena dropped progressively
Umesh was a top class player 15 years back SL had. So you are talking some old examples???
What happened after that???

Because they got more lands in East and southern part of Vanni. Take more, give less.
Don't think that SLA and SLG are generous towards Tamils ! They are robbers and illegal occupants. |

they were given to start cultivations :) is it not good?anyway there is no land for tamis,or Sinhalese SL for lankans :)if you wanna stop cutting graveyards for tamils think like a one nation:)

Don't try to get the credit for the hardwork done by those individuals and their achievements!
Let me know what is the role of ANY Govt. in the achievement of ANY SUCCESSFUL PERSON in this world, then i'll answer you...
may be you can start with Bill Gates, and US's anti-trust laws against Microsoft! :) :)
If we ask each of them whether they feel SL is the better place to live, What would be the answer???
can't help you there! you will have to ask them yourself... :)
but, why didn't they shift all their work/careers/businesses to other countries?

OF course, even babies cultivate and plant mines. It is why the SLA keep on shelling and killing them. |
