Five civilians, including two children, displaced recently from Mannaar district were killed Saturday evening when Sri Lanka Army (SLA) launched artillery attack on Puthumu`rippu village, situated 7 km southwest of Ki`inochchi town. Three civilians were rushed to Ki`inochchi hospital in critical condition, according to medical sources. The SLA attack, targeting the village, densely populated by IDPs, comes a day after Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) dropped leaflets threatening heavy casualties to civilians in Vanni unless they moved from LTTE administered Vanni.

The artillery attack has taken place at 4:40 p.m.

The civilians killed were identified as 28-year-old Karuppiah Anantharajah, his 2-year-old son Anantharajah Gowtham, 27-year-old Thilakeshvari Visvanthan with her 1-month-old baby and 28-year-old Alagesan Luka Pathmalatha.

47-year-old Kalyani Balasubram is in critical state with serious injuries. She was unconscious and rushed to Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.

The other wounded were identified as 17-year-old female Rajeswary Balasubramaniyam, and 10-month-old baby Iyalvili Alageswaran.

Tamils outside Wanni should ask GOSL to stop food supplies to Wanni.

when Civilians are starved they will come out.

Starving is better than getting killed.

If this is true, it is very unfortunate indeed. Hope the SLA will take care when targetting ltte terrorrists. It is well know that these ltte terrorists are sheilding behind these civilians and hence care should be taken. Hope that the ltte terrorists will either fall back away from populated areas or will allow most of these people to reach safer areas temporarily.

Human shield at work. keep your eyes open for a big bomb in colombo in the next few days. the pattern is tamilnut reports an alleged attack on civillians in ltte territory and then they blow something up in the south. the pettah bomb was timed right after an alleged dpu attack

HR agencies silent over LTTE's human shield - Karuna Amman
Karuna calls for strong commitment from UN :

ha ha

karuna talks about human rights. lol.

if you guys are really concerned about tamil people welfare/rights stop military action and offer the political solution. we dont want bogus 'huamnitarian operation' which kills civilians.
