Con men trick devotees, get over four lakhs

Four men disguised as Buddhist monks misled the Chief Incumbent of the Sri Sudarshanarama Temple in Nagolla and obtained permission to organize a religious ceremony in the temple to bless the country and the security forces and later vanished after collecting Rs.460, 000 from the devotees who attended the ceremony.
It is alleged that the suspects cheated the devotees and sold them talismans for Rs.1600 each without the knowledge of the Chief Incumbent or the Dayaka Sabha of the temple.
The suspects had shed their robes and fled the temple after collecting the money.
Matale police are conducting further inquiries into the incident

Colombo, Aug 28 (IANS) At least 122 Sri Lankan soldiers attached to a training base in the Eastern Amparai district were hospitalized Thursday morning immediately after their breakfast due to food poisoning, military sources here said.
Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said these newly recruited soldiers were undergoing training at Henanigala army camp at Dehiattakandiya in the Amparai district, located some 350 km east of here, when the incident took place.
At least 122 soldiers undergoing training there vomited and fainted immediately after their breakfast Thursday and were rushed to the Dehiattakandiya hospital, Brig. Nanayakkara told IANS.
Hospital sources said that the soldiers are out of danger but would take some time for full recovery.
A sample of the food is to be referred to the government analyst and the Medical Research Institute (MRI) in Colombo for further investigations, the sources said.
The military is also conducting a separate probe into the incident.
Man..if these guys can't even count the # of people properly..How on earth they bomb from the sky and tell us 20 LTTE cadres killed..

It is hard to believe that the LTTE target was an empty ship. This attack was merely for propaganda purposes. Sometimes, they will target a ship with hundreds of soldiers in mid sea.
who knows sldf has already boarded the ship. there are news that 1000 troops were to be transported on that day.
as you say ship is not the target then it appears that their mission has been accomplised by killig 4-8 navy and injuring 20-35

ANOTHERWAY TO DESERT ARMY: well done guys, you know you going to be killed if you are put into fight tigers so look ways to stay in sick leave.
everyday bus load of army is deserting 14,000 army deserted in the last 7 months. that is 2000 a month that is bus load a day. and every two days bus load of army are loosing lives,loosing limbs.
so its better to be with your family on sick leave then get killed and your body goes to secret burial.
i wonder if the plane bomb yesterday trigered the stomatch upset. |

if you live there for centuries and if you had a sinhala kingdoms for centuries I would support your claim but not 50 : 50 but depending on where you are living and whether you are living in a region as a mjority community:))) |
