Fierce gun battle ensued between troops of Task Force 1, advancing further northwards along the Mannar- Pooneryn road (A-32) running along the northwestern coastal belt of the Island, and the LTTE terrorists in Kilinochchi district. By intercepting LTTE radio communication channels it is revealed that 32 terrorists were killed during this battle. Four soldiers have made their utmost sacrifices for defending the motherland while 31 suffered injuries.
AS PER sla website
ltte says that 28 sla were and 85 were injured even if we accept sla figures of 38 injured that is high for just one incident . |

| Great going. Nachchikuda and Mallavi are about to fall- that is what I heard in media. With fall of those two strong points, next stops for SLA are going to be Poonaryn on North and Mankulam on East. It seems that by the end of September, SLA will enter East of A-9. |

Air strike targeted Eastern Navy HQ- LTTE
The LTTE has claimed that the Air strike on Tuesday targeted the Eastern Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Navy located in the inner harbour of Trincomalee.
An LTTE statement claimed that at least 4 sailors were killed and more than 35 wounded in the air strike.
The aircrafts safely returned to their base after carrying out their mission, the LTTE said.
The Tigers issued photos of the Air Tiger fighters with LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran.

This is LTTE propaganda to boost the moral of their cadres and give a rosy picture to tamil diaspora that they can still win this war against GOSL.It is surprising why we are can't trace where they hide these aircrafts. It may be a bigger security threat even we gain on the ground.

The photo graph published by LTTE is old photo graph. However, whatever said and done Karunanidhi's Tamil nadu is supporting LTTE, thats why they are so strong even after so many losses.

Thank you 'Human' (from Singapore) for your firm comments. The biggest problem we are facing is lack of straight forward people like you in our country. If our nation think like you there wouldn't be any LTTE terrorists in the first place. Secondly the power thirsty corrupted, narrow minded politicians played with terrorists to their advantage. Thirdly, citizens never think country first. Majority want bigger portion of the pie, doing nothing. They were misled by uneducated politicians and would not give a damn about betraying motherland for little advantage.

The LTTE is a product of state oppression. Srilankan state has failed to treat tamils as fellow citizen of the country. When tamils try to get their rights by GHANDIAM (non-violent)approach it was met by brutal state terror. Democratically elected Tamil MP's were murdered, Tamil rights-activist are killed, numerous catholic priest were killed because they were sympathetic to tamils plight... this list will go on forever. The news you get from the war zone only from state controlled media. No independent media allowed to visit tamil area. What are they (GOSL) trying to hide?

As a Tamil I am really shamed by these things by LTTE. How can we/ our children face the world ? In time to come great tamil nation with rhyme with terrorism !! I think now it's the time to unite and defend the great Tamil nation being tagged as terrorists!

O is it? well we don't know.

LTTE expected more damage on Navy base to satisfy their supporters and cover up their lost in Wanni. On other hand it reveals the weakness and careless of SL forces.

LTTE is counting its last breath and tamil diaspora so fed up with their 'tactical withdrawal', it may affect LTTE financially, so they forced to make a show in a front to keep the moral of the diaspora, thats all....but why we cannot shoot it down?

These terrorists are doing shameful things in that beautiful country which we wanted to follow in the history. SL government must destroy them.

Now that LTZP is in life support, GOSL should be careful never to fully wipe them out. Like the Previous Govts. There is a huge political benefit in maintaining this conflict.
Slowly we need to begin Sinhala Settlemants, expand HSZ's, strengthen counter terror laws and covert operations. We must fully gain the Northern traditional Sinhala homelands.
Its a delicate balance. |
