BATTICALOA: JUST A FEW HOURS after Airmen in gunned down two T-56 weapon carrying Tiger terrorists in VELLANKULAM, TRINCOMALEE late Wednesday (27) night, Special Task Force personnel conducting a snap search operation in KALAVANCHIKUDY area, BATTICALOA Thursday (28) afternoon arrested one leading BATTICALOA-based Tiger leader, identified as Kannan and uncovered claymores, detonators, micro pistols, T-56 rifles and warlike items on information given by the arrestee.

Information elicited from the Tiger leader led to the recovery of one claymore mine, nineteen detonators, 2kg of iron balls, one remote controller, one receiver, two T-56 assault rifles, ten T-56 Magazines, Four hundred and seventy five T-56 rounds, two communication sets, one micro pistol, three micro pistol Magazines, twenty-four 9mm Rounds, one webbing set, one LTTE jungle uniform set, one LTTE jungle T-shirt, one Army uniform, 120m of flexible wire, two live hand grenades and a large stock of medical equipment.

The arrested Tiger leader and recoveries were handed over to the KALAVANCHIKUDY Police station.
