| I have been saying long that Buddhism holds the key to eternal peace. If Tamils know what it is there will be more Tamil Buddhist monks than Sinhalese. Then there is no need of bogus peelam, whole universe is yours. |

The military today captured the Palamoddai town, an LTTE stronghold in Vavuniya and a one kilometers beach stretch north of Kokkuthuduwai in Welioya after fierce battles.
ZHTTP even uploaded Youtube clip about Palamoddai - defence and REVY was having pre mature ejaculation on that.
what does REVY say now ?????????????????

Buddhism is not something to be feared so is Sinhalese.
They are to be revrered.
If not for Buddhism , Sinhala has no place.
Why did Tamils frea and even redicule Buddhism ?
Tamil Buddhist epic by the poet Saattanar (circa sixth century A. D) reveals the kind of intellectual discourses which Buddhism generated in Tamil Nadu.Even under the Pallava and Chola dynasties whose reigns are identified with Hindu assertiveness, Buddhism along with Jainism were very powerful intellectual forces.
It is a fact seldom highlighted that two landmarks in Tamil grammar Veerasoliyam and Nannool- were written by a Buddhist (Buddhamithra) and a Jain (Pavanadhi) even in the heyday of the Chola empire which had brought in such vast changes in the social life of Tamil Nadu, including its language.
I dont know why followers of buddism in tamil nadu has reduced to almost nil. but there are stories that there were debates among religious monks including budda and buddism was defeated in tamilnadu .(I have a vague idea about this) |

The Buddhist establishments in the Tamil towns never wanted to present Buddhism in Tamil to the Tamil people, a feature seen at least to some extent in the activities of the Maha Bodhi society of Madras. This society has published Tamil books on Buddhism. The society s monograph Puththar Sarithtiram (History Buddha) is a brilliant introduction in Tamil to Lord Buddha and his teachings. I wonder whether any such publications have come out in Sri Lanka. On the contrary, the Buddhist temple and the Buddhist priest have been seen as Sinhalaising forces, very much like the Christian missionaries of the Portuguese and Dutch periods who were also viewed as part of state hegemony.
Lord Buddha would never have even thought of such a situation for he took his teachings to the people in their own languages.

If Prabakaran becomes Venerable Velvetithurai Dhammaratana and be a true monk. Not a single Sinhalese , or army will ever see him as an enemy. They cant ?
That is the strength.
That is teh truth inAngulimala.
That is what even gen Weeratunaga did .
But it has to be genuine. Someone has to teach Buddhism to LTZP. That will transform the East . |
