After my recent experiences in Jaffna - during most sacred time, I feel strongly that neither the government nor the Tamils have real need. We need to look after those who truly care about us and have faith in us and who uphold our investment in law and order for their group. That is real Dharma.

Below is the closing paragraph of my letter to the President of Sri Lanka:

28 August 2008

Your Excellency, this morning around 5.40 a.m., I had a near fatal experience when I was on my way to Nallur temple most of the way being allegedly guarded by your troops. The experience has shaken me up quite strongly and I am seeking the real message from Nallur Murugan. I am wanting to share this with my International family through my Australian government. Neither you nor the Tamil community here protected me from that danger. I am too emotional about it all right now and am being comforted by my family in Australia to whom I am very valuable. I will share my communication on this soon with you so you would do better with others.

I feel strongly that Lankanewspapers also is responsible for this

Child Abuse

CHENNAI: Less than 500 cases relating to bodily harm of children are reported annually in the city, according to police records. Of these, several are pending trial cases, about two-thirds of all cases are prosecuted and less than one-thirds result in conviction.

A survey, conducted recently by Tulir Centre for the Prevention and Healing of Child Sexual Abuse (Tulir CPHCSA) in the city, showed MORE THAN 40 PER CENT OF CHILDREN in the city from across social strata reporting various forms of sexual abuse.

The percentage of boys reporting abuse was marginally higher than that of girls. Most abusers were known well to the child, including close relatives and domestic help. The National Crime Records Bureau Statistics for 2005 estimated that about 74 per cent of all reported crimes against children are sexual crimes.

You are a disgrace to humanity - you are as lowly as the guy who almost killed me this morning. Stay away from just people and stick to your own lowly group

Addressing sexual abuse in Sri Lanka
Most sexual abuse occurs within the privacy of the family. Nishani is a young Sri Lankan girl, who was 11 years old when her mother s lover sexually abused her. The abuse was encouraged by the mother herself. This went on until the young girl became pregnant. At an age when most girls are attending school and planning for their future, Nishani had to assume the duties of a mother.

India has the largest number of children under the age of 15 in work in the world. Some estimates put the figure at 100 MILLION CHILDREN. In some cases, young children are forced to work for long hours for low pay and in dangerous conditions. Oxfam is supporting efforts to end this type of child labour, which harms young children.
