Berty,

It is a set back for the SL navy..isn't it?
The Thakaran planes came bombed and left without being brought back..isn't that a set back in your books or a victory..

A 'setback' is defined as follows:

setback - a problem that sets back progress

Wiki.

So in this context, i don't think the fact that the SLN failed to bring down these takaran planes is a setback. Also, i don't believe that what the planes bombed in Trinco is a setback to the GoSL. It might be a setback to the Trinco base which is say trying to establish more man power in the area, or soemthing like that, but it's definitely not a setback to the wanni operation or the total operation against the LTTE!

Anyway, it's all subjective, depending on what contexts you look at... but to me, this attempted bombing is not a setback to the GoSL! It's only a failed airstrike attempt (even though i don't think the LTTE were truely planning on acheiving a successful airstrike!)

whether you call THIS as 'setback' or 'threat' does not matter. what matters is what the next target of TEAF will be:)))

Major humilation to SLDF and a spectacular stunt by LTTE. Well done indeed. Hats off to the daring LTTE pilots.

I think this is a diversionary act by LTTE and they proved a point to their supporters. They are still capable of executing a daring attacks. SLN/SLAF gets a grade F for preparedness.

It might be a cow paddock like what the TEAF targetted during the anuradhapura attack! LOL!
