After reading all the comments here, I too think this was not an LTTE scam but a GoSL setup because:
1. LTTE doesn't take unsuspecting Britishers to the cleaners - it only ethinically cleanses Muslims & Sinhalese(and non-LTTE Tamils)
2. More than the 3K pounds owed were stolen - LTTE only appropriates what is owed to them, no more, no less (1/3 this, 2/3 that etc).
3. The guy didn't say it was a loan 'tiger' shark.
4. Not all people who made statements about this mentioned the LTTE connection.
5. This was also publicized by defence.lk.
6. An LTTE supporter first posted the article - thereby absolving the LTTE
7. The thief actually accepted responsibility for his actions - LTTE's never done that.
8. Regretting 'cloning and stealing for the LTTE' doesn't mean the person actually did it (insert definition of regret here). He could have just been sorry that someone else stole and blamed the LTTE.
9. LTTE haters are hooting about this!
10. Other people have also been accused/convicted of credit card scams! |
