Southern parts of Sri Lanka were shaken Wednesday by minor earth tremors around 5:45 to 5:50 a.m. local time, the meteorological department said. Sri Lanka's Geological Survey and Mines Bureau said that officers have been dispatched to the site of the tremor and the cause was being investigated. The tremors were recorded at the Pallekele station in Central Sri Lanka. Though recorded here, readings from three different stations were needed to locate the origin of the tremor.
