Yes, and that is relevant to this discussion because:
A. You would like to show that your can't spell hilarious
B. If you can be really funny, your thuggery should be met by shruggery (of shoulders)
I don't give a rats arse whether Vermin is funny, boring or even a misunderstood, undereducated peasant. He's a thug, a violent criminal and as long as H.E. Rajapaksa accepts Vermins behaviour and protects him, H.E. will have to live with being seen as a less than ethical politician. On the other hand, he'll be seen as someone who stands by a friend whatever the circumstances. |

You are 100% correct. No debate at all.
What is needed in Sri Lanka is a New UNP Leader who can be a real political challenge to Mahinda.
Without that.......what can the people do????

No point just crying out like this.
Well, only one thing to be done. All should unite and find an alternate leader for the UNP and propel the UNP back into business.....
Then Mahinda himself will have more political competetion which is good for Sri Lanka... |

Ofcourse she has problems with Mervin's antics....What can she do??? She has only married him afterall. She's can't change him.
Here's what Mervin has said told the Famer's in Polonnaruwa at an Election Meeting:
Note: Mervin was the UNP MP for Hambantota from 1994-2000 and in 2000 switched to support CBK.
Anyway here's what he said.

Mervyn added another piece.....
He said that he was with the Rajapaksa's when he was young and he was always in shorts.....But no Rajapaksa even looked at him...since Rajapaksa's are not that way inclined.....Then he said D A Rajapaksa (Mahinda's Father) had 9 children, and Mahinda has 3 children......
30,000 famer's of Polonnaruwa were laughing their heads off. and will deffinitely not vote for Ranil's party...

The JVP yesterday alleged that a group led by minister Mervyn Silva had attacked a shop of a JVP supporter and later opened fire at supporters of JVP North Central Provincial Council candidate Upul Kumara at Aralaganwil
In Sri Lanka only those ministers with armed gang are in the forefront and supported by the president.
Devananda's EPDP was armed immediately after Nov 2005 Presidential Election and has abducted or killed more than 2100 Tamil youths in Jaffna. When his another Eastern gang killed and buried a Pillayan's supporter in Chengalady EPDP owned camp he the gang members were arrested by the police. But it is widely expected that the president will see to it that all culprits are set free.
Pillayan won the election with the intimidation by his gun carrying cadres. The president will show that bullets are more powerful and can decide which way ballots are cast by the voters. |

Voter,
You are writing some interesting stuff. Pity that I couldn't experience those things first hand.
However, I believe, Mervin's portfolio is not at all a result of democracy. He is just a distraction. Mahinda keeps his distance from this guy for obvious reasons, while leaving him to do his dirty drama freely.
He has been used in the similar way by UNP, if you remember incident at Rajagiriya Election office.
In the mean time I agree with your comparison of Mervin with other ministers. This guy is doing the stuff that makes people laugh. Other ministers are doing worse things, not helping the country or our thirst for entertainment. |

This is what thugs like Prabakaran and the like minded think. However, every time when there is a swing towards change, no gun or no bullet changed the result.
It has been a fashion in third world that loosing parties accept it even before the first vote is caste, by making similar statements to media and monitors. Those who beg others, point fingers and prepare themselves to embrace defeat, definitely get what they deserve.

| I would strongly recommend this Mervin thug to be locked up with VP in the same cell,as they both like guns,violence etc.They may have much in common and much to talk about. |
