Could it be that this guy voluntarily gave-up speaking Sinhalese as he is ashamed to be identified as a Sinhalese.

As soon as he came here, he started to eat with the fork

How do you know that he did not eat with a fork when he was in SL.
Some people actually feel uncomfortable eating with their hand. I ate with a fork while in SL and I still eat rice with a fork.

AnuD,

When I came here almost 20 years ago.. I used to deliver chicken for KFC while going to Humber College.. The Manager of the KFC was a Bangalideshi guy. He had all kinds of new immigrants (mostly poor indians) working for him and he also started eating with forks and spoons. He once said that that is the way they always eat in Bangladesh.. I asked him if they took their forks and spoons to the rooftops during the floods while they wait for the UN to drop the food.

I lost my job..

He started eating without his fork :)

That is a really good one, though it was costly one.

Gons,

I have friend in UK (still a Sri Lankan Citizen), who asked his boss to show one white guy who could do a better job than him in any given assignment and asked the boss why he paid him (my friend) less than what the white guy is getting. the boss gave him the same salary of the white guys from thereon.

One person, i Knew went back to Sri Lanka after selling his house. Think about the conversion factor.Lot of money.

He bought 100 acre or 200 acre land and began a modern agriculture-technology based business.

He is successful and there was an article about the business even in LNP.

I know at least two people like that.

Also it's not tasty if you don't have Pol sambol or Lunu miris,..

I also have a garden full of Mugunuwenna, and Gotukola,...
Other than the herbs grown here in addition to other vegetables,...
It's very tasty when you eat things you grow,..
I still couldn't manage to grow a Karapincha tree successfully,.....
That's what I am dying for,...
I need rice and curry for at least two meals a day,... sometimes I eat 'Heal bath' with pol sambol... Yummy,..
