Gonnamba,

Hey.. what can I say.. Army sure seem to need more and more people. May be because they have a larger area to hold ?

One possible reason.

Hold? The SLA haven't a hold anywhere in the South or the so called liberated East. The LTTE are everywhere and are attacking at will. In the Vanni heartland of the LTTE holding onto land isn't going to be easy as guerrilla attacks will kill hundreds at a time. Good luck anyway.

Today Gota is begging for 10,000 deserters to get back in the forces. He says the govt forces are winning the battle against the LTTE. If you are winning why do you need more soldiers? How many thousands more does he need to fight the 5000 LTTE cadres that are left? LOL

SL forces are not just fighting a force of 5000. They are fighting a group of cowards who are hiding inside innocent civilians and attacking.
SL forces ahve to protect about 800,000 civilians while returning fire. SL forces are also responsible for the 800,000 civilians welfare.
It is an enormous task not even 500,000 could not achieve successfully, but the SL boys are doing it with much fewer number. Isn't it great ?

Do you really believe the crap you just wrote?

My take on this is quite different. Any government to stay in power has to protect itself from its own party politicians and those who elected them. One of the ways you do is to give minister positions with perks to politicians whether required or not and to give employment to its base. This government has increased unproductive employment in every sector two and three folds making every department overstaffed and less productive and with the war on it has got a avenue to spend enough without being questioned. So it will recruit all it can and the day it stops or the war stops it will realize what it has done.

This really has nothing to do with Praba or the LTTE. Any idiot will know that LTTE is not going to try anything against India. This is a message to Pakistan Intl. not to try any thing funny like they did in Afgan. India is ready to protect its own in any soil.

DVLADV,
I was talking about the soldier who has to face the bullet, and also has to face court martial if a civilian is harmed.

Can you tell me if any soldier has ever been court-martialed in SL for harming civilians.
I know your new to this forum: we normally keep jokes for Friday and don't use them on Monday. :)

What about that incident during CBK admin. a couple of soldiers were caught killing a tamil girl, and sent to jail. I don't remember details.

BUT here is how you know the civilians are not getting killed:

LTTE & and its propaganda channels would publish pictures and exaggerated stories if there is a single civilian killed. IF they can prove the government soldiers killed a civilian, there will be protests in Oslo, Helsinki, CapeTown, Zurich, NY, Granada, north-pole, south-pole and all other corners of the world.

there are NGO's desperately looking for a civilian death to use it to raise money.

Be very assured that if there are civilians getting killed, you will not be left in the dark. The whole world will be informed by the eager LTTE reporters.

Dvladv,
Also know that, SL soldiers have been trained on human rights so many times. Many Many times, western human rights advacates would visit sri lanka, and the government would let them lecture our soldiers & police.

I can dig up dates and names, when I get time, on this Human Rights training of our soldiers.

War is bad. Civilians pay the price. But a Democratic government can not surrender to Terrorism. Please convey this to LTTE. They are trying to do the impossible.
