There are enough Tamil men to give their supreme service

That is not what we are hearing from Jaffna. Some of the girls there cannot marry, because grooms and their parents are asking big dowries. One of my wife's friend, who is a tamil girl working in AUS is saving money for her two younger sisters dowries.... You people always think money first.. (probably money is god) before anything else.

Sri Lankans in Finland stage protest demonstration against LTTE terrorism
Sri Lankans living in Finland yesterday (July 25 ) staged a
mass protest
demonstration in Helsinki against LTTE terrorism in Sri Lanka . The protestors held their demonstration for 2 hours in front of the Finish parliament with a strong participation of Sri Lankan of all ethnicities and Finns alike.

The protestor displayed banners saying that Sri Lanka is the homeland of Sinhalese , Muslims and Tamils but not of a single race. Many other banners and placard were seen held by the participants against recruiting of child soldiers , ethnic cleansing and civilian massacres, routinely carried out by the LTTE.

The protesters also urged the Finish government to curb LTTE's front organizations that engaged in fundraising for the terror outfit and other LTTE affiliated criminal gangs that collect funds from the Tamil people through extortion.

Also , they requested the Finnish Government to help Sri Lanka in defeating terrorism and building peace and harmony for the war torn nation.

Too bad, buddy! you have no chance there! don't worry our fellows can take care of it!

is this the way you have taking care of it...geeeze no wonder!
All these led to a sharp decline in the number of men, leave alone eligible bachelors to get married to their women. There were many women who had long passed the age of 30, but still remained as spinsters. This, the journal says, has put the remaining young men at a premium. They demand lakhs of rupees as dowry, plus houses to enter into wedlock with waiting women. The men agree to tie the knot to the highest bidder. Priorities are, beauty, very fair, slim, good education and employed, in that order. Another impact of the situation is the fall in the birthrate, as most of the women are being rendered sterile.

*Widows driven into prostitution*

TamilNet, October 26, 1998 14:36 GMT

A guest house in Orr's Hill, a suburb of Trincomalee town, was surrounded last night by angry locals who called the Police to raid the premises, said sources. The residents alleged that the guest house was operating as a brothel at night, they said.

The Police arrested several women whom they suspected to be prostitutes (prostitution is illegal in Sri Lanka).

Among these, were two young Tamil widows who had been brought to the 'guest house' from remote villages in Mutur, south of Trincomalee.
